Things seem to be turning around for Bill Belichick. After claiming his first win against a ranked opponent during his time at North Carolina against Pittsburgh, Belichick has now claimed his first Victory Bell win against Duke. Belichick’s Tar Heels ran out to a 17-0 lead and held on in the second half to seal the 24-20 win.

During the post-game press conference, Belichick was asked if he rang the Victory Bell.
“I did. I’m sure (the video) will be out there on “MyFace, MyGram or something soon,” Belichick said, continuing his recurring bit of not knowing the names of social media sites.

He turned out to be right, as the UNC Football account posted video of a smiling Belichick gleefully ringing the Victory Bell as his players cheered him on.

With the win, UNC snapped Duke’s two-game winning streak in the Victory Bell rivalry. Moreover, the Tar Heels improved to 4-2, matching last season’s win total.
It has been far from smooth sailing for Belichick thus far in Chapel Hill. His tenure has been marred with constant speculation about his relationship, as well as subpar performances on the field. But with back-to-back impressive road wins over Pitt and Duke, Belichick is showing signs that he might be figuring the college game out.
UNC’s performance was far from perfect, though. While quarterback Billy Edwards Jr. did not throw an interception, they still lost two fumbles as turnovers continue to be a problem. But other facets of their game are showing improvement, which is a promising sign moving forward.
Belichick will now be eyeing his first three-game winning streak with the Tar Heels when they take on Syracuse next week.
