Notre Dame is finally back in Provo to take on BYU after a short couple of decades, and it’s a top 10 matchup. It’s currently late Friday night, and this was supposed to be a Wednesday column… so let’s get right after it.

TIGHT (END) COVERAGE

There are some people that seem to believe that Notre Dame is now vulnerable in pass coverage. So that’s weird — seeing as how no team has thrown for over 250 yards against the Irish. North Carolina found some success with their tight end Jelani Thurman, and most of that was in the middle of the field. I don’t think Thurman is strapping it up for BYU on Saturday, and neither Walker Lyons or Roger Saleapaga scare me much. Still… I want them to be very quiet on Saturday night.

FEED JONAZ WALTON

Notre Dame can scrap the rotation looking for the hot hand. I’m not psychic, but I’m very sure that the hot hand will be Jonaz Walton this week — just as it was the last two weeks. Don’t fight it — feed Walton the rock and let him roll.

GAS IT UP

I’ve been trying to be respectful all week long, and it’s not that I think BYU is a bad team… but I don’t honestly believe they are a top 10 type of team in any regard — like at all. Notre Dame should be able to take care of business much in the same way as they did with Wisconsin. I don’t care about the “atmosphere” and nether will Notre Dame. I want to see a “no-doubter” from the Irish.
