Remarkable payroll stat proves just how much more money LA Dodgers spend than World Series rivals
· Yahoo Sports
The Los Angeles Dodgers spend more than nearly every other MLB team, but this is especially true for their rivals for the World Series.
The Los Angeles Dodgers are reigning World Series champions and currently attempting to win their third consecutive title. Yet, baseball fans across the board, not counting their own fans, tend to dislike them a fair bit. The biggest reason for that is the amount of money they have spent constructing their stacked roster.

The Dodgers have been used as the primary example for why the MLB needs a salary cap. When they added Tarik Skubal to a roster with Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, Yoshinobu Yamamoto and others, many fans were outraged. While some defended LA, the latest viral stat on social media shows just how big the gap is between them and their rivals.
The Los Angeles Dodgers’ $339 million payroll is higher than the remaining three teams combined
The Dodgers are playing against the Milwaukee Brewers in the NLCS, and have already lost Game 1. The ALCS is between the Cleveland Guardians and the Tampa Bay Rays. None of these teams are among those that are known for spending a lot of money on payroll.
The Dodgers’ closest competition on this front, like the New York Mets or the Yankees have not made it this far. That is already a victory for those who think the rich teams are ruining baseball. However, it’s a bit hard to believe just how big the gap between the other teams’ payrolls and the Dodgers’ payroll is.
Payroll of the four teams left in it… $339M – Dodgers, $146M – Brewers, $96M – Rays, $74M – Guardians. Or… $339M – Dodgers, $316M – the other three combined,” MLB writer Dan Clark shared in a post on X.
They may not be the only team spending that much in the entire league, but the rest of the Dodgers’ rivals prove that success is very much possible to earn without spending big money, too. It is safe to say that most neutral MLB fans will be rooting for one of the other three teams to win the World Series.
