The Houston Texans may have finally found their spark. However, their next challenge could determine whether their 2026 season becomes a comeback story or another frustrating chapter. After opening the campaign with four consecutive losses, Houston delivered a statement in Week 5. They dismantled the Tennessee Titans 26-3. Now, NFL insider Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated sees a potential path toward a major resurgence. That’s provided the Texans can overcome one significant hurdle: beating the Jacksonville Jaguars in London.

Jacksonville enters the international matchup at 4-1. They have the advantage of already being acclimated to the overseas setting. Houston, meanwhile, must navigate the travel demands after its Tennessee trip. Still, a win against its AFC South rival could provide the momentum needed to climb back into contention as the schedule opens up.

Houston’s resilience has stood out despite its miserable start. Three of the Texans’ first four defeats came by five points or fewer. However, the locker room maintained its belief.

“Everybody’s still staying up,” captain Will Anderson Jr. told Breer. “Everybody’s still coming to work with positive energy and just having joy. And that’s what you’ve seen today. No matter the outcome, this team has persevered.”

That confidence received a timely boost against Tennessee. Anderson recorded three sacks, and Houston’s defense delivered its most convincing performance of the season. Head coach DeMeco Ryans also reclaimed defensive play-calling duties. That move immediately paid dividends.

The Texans enter Week 6 at 1-4, with CJ Stroud and Nico Collins still central to their offensive hopes. Their early losses exposed issues with late-game execution. The Titans win, though, offered evidence that Houston can respond. Beating a 4-1 Jacksonville team in London would be a major statement. It could potentially turn things around for the Texans.
