Barcelona’s remarkable start to the 2026-27 season has reached historic proportions. Hansi Flick’s side have hardly put a foot wrong, winning their first eight matches in La Liga.
The numbers they have produced in terms of goals has also been unbelievable, with only one team ever to have done better in the league’s history.
Barcelona have won their first eight league fixtures for only the second time in club history.
They have equalled the achievement of Gerardo Martino’s team during the 2013-14 campaign.
Barça match rare winning record
The achievement underlines the level of football Hansi Flick’s team are playing and the consistency that has become synonymous with their game.
Eight victories from eight matches have given Barcelona a perfect 24 points, maintaining their six-point advantage over Real Madrid.
However, the winning streak is only part of the story. Barça have scored 34 goals across those eight fixtures, averaging 4.25 goals per match.
Only Sevilla, who scored 41 goals in their first eight matches of the 1940-41 season, have ever recorded a higher total at this stage of a La Liga campaign.
Athletic Club also scored 34 goals across their opening eight matches in 1930-31. That places Flick’s Barcelona alongside two historic attacking performances, with only one team ahead of them.
Flick’s attacking philosophy producing spectacular results
Saturday’s 3-0 victory over Getafe provided another demonstration of Barcelona’s attacking confidence.
Anthony Gordon, Gabriel Jesus and the team’s other attacking options have given Flick the flexibility to rotate without losing their threat.
The presence of Lamine Yamal adds another dimension, with Barcelona capable of creating opportunities through individual brilliance as well as team moves.

The most encouraging aspect is how quickly different combinations and new players appear to settle into the system.
Barcelona have an opportunity to build something special
The next challenge is translating this domestic form into sustained success across competitions.
Barcelona’s Champions League trip to Galatasaray will test their ability to maintain attacking control in a demanding away atmosphere.
El Clasico also presents the Catalan club with their first huge test in La Liga against one of their direct title rivals.
Flick does not need Barcelona to score four goals every week. Maintaining the pressing intensity and chance creation behind those numbers is far more important.
Right now, this Barça team look unstoppable, and it remains to be seen how long the team can keep this run going this season.
