Prime Minister Narendra Modi completed 25 years of continuous leadership as head of government on October 7, 2026, marking a journey that began when he assumed office as Chief Minister of Gujarat in 2001 and subsequently continued at the national level as Prime Minister from 2014. His political journey has been distinctive in that he became Chief Minister of Gujarat before being elected as an MLA for the first time and later became Prime Minister in 2014 upon being elected to the Lok Sabha for the first time.
To commemorate the 25-year milestone, the Union Cabinet adopted a resolution congratulating the Prime Minister, highlighting developments during this period across infrastructure, economic reforms, technology, manufacturing, entrepreneurship, welfare delivery and India’s global engagement. The milestone reflects a quarter-century in executive leadership, with the national focus now increasingly directed towards achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047.
Dr. Kalantri observed that the Prime Minister’s tenure has coincided with a significant transformation in India’s economic landscape. Initiatives such as Make in India, Digital India, Startup India and Aatmanirbhar Bharat, together with GST, infrastructure expansion, digital public infrastructure and manufacturing incentives, have contributed to strengthening the environment for enterprise and investment.
Looking ahead, Dr. Kalantri emphasised that the coming two decades will be decisive for India, “On this milestone, we extend our best wishes to Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji and look forward to the next phase of reforms and development that can realise India’s immense economic potential. We stand ready to contribute towards the national mission of building a Viksit Bharat by 2047 under the dynamic leadership of Narendra Modiji,” Dr. Kalantri concluded.
