Could the Steelers Trade Jalen Ramsey, Too?
· Yahoo Sports
ESPN NFL insider Jeremy Fowler raised an interesting possibility involving Steelers defensive back Jalen Ramsey.
“Is it worth calling Pittsburgh for Jalen Ramsey? Not sure he’s available, but the Lions’ defense seems far from settled,” Fowler wrote in his latest buzz file.

The possibility would certainly be surprising, but it isn’t completely unrealistic.
Throughout the Joey Porter Jr. saga, Ramsey was firmly in Porter’s corner and appeared frustrated with how Pittsburgh handled the situation. He spoke candidly about Porter following the Steelers’ loss to the Cleveland Browns and later publicly supported his former teammate on Instagram during Porter’s debut with Dallas.
From Detroit’s perspective, the fit makes plenty of sense. The Lions have struggled badly against the pass and currently own one of the worst pass defenses in football. Adding a veteran defensive back with Ramsey’s versatility would immediately help a secondary searching for answers.
The bigger question is whether Pittsburgh would have any interest in moving him.
The Steelers have already had major issues in the secondary since trading Porter. Pittsburgh has allowed nearly 300 passing yards in back-to-back weeks, and moving another major piece from the defensive backfield would only make those concerns bigger.
If the Steelers truly still view themselves as a win-now team, trading Ramsey would be a difficult move to justify. His ability to play corner, nickel and safety gives Pittsburgh flexibility it badly needs right now.
Still, Fowler mentioning Ramsey is noteworthy.
The Steelers have already proven they are willing to make a major move involving their secondary, and with the NFL trade deadline approaching, Ramsey’s name could be one worth monitoring.
For now, there is no indication that Pittsburgh is actively shopping Ramsey. But after the Porter situation, it is difficult to completely rule anything out.
