Most MLB postseason home runs: See the all-time list of career leaders

Major League Baseball's further-expanded postseason probably means that no playoff records will be safe in the years to come, with more October games than ever before.

All 18 of Mickey Mantle's home runs came in the World Series as the Hall of Famer retired before the introduction of the League Championship Series in 1969. Previously, the top team in each league would go directly to the World Series at the end of the regular season.

These days with a 12-team postseason field, a team can play up to 22 games – compared to seven in Mantle's day – meaning plenty more opportunities to accumulate stats on baseball's biggest stage.

But Manny Ramirez, who last played in the postseason in 2009, still holds the record with 29 home runs in the postseason. Jose Altuve ranks second in history with 28 – including one in the AL wild card series – but the Houston Astros will have to get back to the postseason
