In the two previous wins against the Washington Commanders and the Tennessee Titans, they managed to outscore their opponents effectively. The loss to the Bears has made many question the head coach Nick Sirianni, including one former player.

DeSean Jackson questions Nick Sirianni’s offense interference

The Eagles’ poor performance against the Bears has prompted a lot of backlash for the team, especially on Sirianni. Former Eagles wide receiver and franchise icon DeSean Jackson has questioned the head coach’s level of involvement with the offense following the team’s loss.

Appearing on the Up & Adams Show, Jackson noted that the Eagles’ offense performed adequately in the first two weeks of the 2026 season, helping the team start 2-0 while involving receivers such as Dontayvion Wicks and DeVonta Smith. He suggested that the failure of the offense against the Bears was due to Sirianni involving himself more heavily into play-calling, instead of letting offensive coordinator Sean Mannion handle it himself.

He said, “Oh man, I would love to see him (Mannion) just take it over. I feel like it’s always crazy because you get speculations and you don’t really know the ins and outs of what’s going on or what’s happening, but I think through the first two weeks, it was pretty good. Their offense was doing very well. And I just think this pass game, I don’t know if Nick Sirianni is getting his hands in in the pot. You know, it’s steaming out there where he’s kind of taking over. I don’t know. It’s hard to say because I just know the first two weeks was pretty good, right?”

The Eagles only managed just 248 total yards against the Bears, scored only seven points, and converted 2 of 9 third downs. On the other hand, third-string quarterback Case Keenum shined for the Bears in Caleb Williams’ absence. However, there is no indication as to whether it was Sirianni’s fault, while Mannion has taken the blame.

Sean Mannion admits fault in loss to Bears

Mannion is an offensive coordinator for the first time in his career, and joined the Eagles this year. He admitted his fault in the loss, and assured that they will improve in the next games. He said, “Ultimately, I need to build the best plan possible. That’s on me to put us in the best position possible.”

He added, “That’s on me to put us in the best position possible to build our marriage of the run and pass, the way we want it to look. I think with the way we got the run game going, there’s more to maximize off of that.”

The Eagles will now prepare for the next game against the Los Angeles Rams.
