As time expired on the second quarter, Will Reichard’s third field goal gave the Vikings a 9-0 lead over the winless Miami Dolphins at halftime. They did record 147 yards, putting them on pace to reach 250 for the first time this season, but they were held without a touchdown on six possessions against one of the NFL’s worst defenses.
The Vikings went punt, field goal, punt, field goal, punt, field goal on their six drives. Fortunately, their defense has predictably continued to dominate against Malik Willis and the Dolphins’ offense, which has just 76 yards at halftime. Miami has punted four times and lost a fumble on a strip-sack by Dallas Turner, who had two sacks in the half.
Notably, the Vikings have lost two of their starting offensive linemen to injuries in the first half. Left guard Donovan Jackson left with a knee injury in the first quarter and has been ruled out for the rest of the game. Star left tackle Christian Darrisaw left with a neck injury in the second quarter and is questionable to return.
Aaron Jones has 42 rushing yards and a 15-yard catch. Kyler Murray is 11 of 19 for 112 yards and has been sacked three times. T.J. Hockenson is the Vikings’ leading receiver with three catches for 39 yards.
The Vikings will look to get into the end zone and finish off a victory in the second half.
