Arch Manning has guided Texas football to an impressive undefeated 4-0 start to the 2026 season. However, despite his success in helping the Longhorns remain unbeaten, former NFL star Robert Griffin III recently made a particularly notable statement regarding Manning and his future NFL Draft decision.
NFL evaluators continue to regard Manning as a potential No. 1 overall selection in the 2027 NFL Draft. However, during an appearance on “The Herd,” Griffin III encouraged the young quarterback to remain at Texas for another season rather than entering the NFL after the 2026 season.
“I think that Arch still is feeling that pressure of having to go out and throw for 350 yards and five touchdowns every single game to justify the attention that he gets because of the name on the back of his jersey,” Griffin said.

“I believe he should come back for another year. When guys are ready to go to the NFL, playing college football looks easy for them. You know, for myself, when I came out, when Andrew Luck came out, it looked easy for us when we were playing in our last year. It looked easy for C.J. Stroud when he was playing in his last year. It doesn’t look easy for Arch yet.”
CBS Sports’ Mike Renner has Manning projected as the No. 2 overall pick, placing him behind Ohio State star Jeremiah Smith. However, while discussing Manning’s draft outlook, Renner noted that the young quarterback has not yet produced a complete game in which he dominates from start to finish.
Though evaluators continue to praise Manning’s ability to generate explosive plays with his deep passing and create opportunities outside the structure of the offense, his game film still reveals several aspects of his quarterback play that require further refinement.
With the 2026 season still unfolding, Manning has plenty of time to strengthen his draft stock and address the areas of his game that still need development.
