Kawhi Leonard on latest ‘Pablo Torre Finds Out’ report: ‘I’m not entertained by it’
· Yahoo Sports
After former ESPN employee turned investigative podcaster Pablo Torre first broke the story of potential salary-cap circumvention by the Los Angeles Clippers in the franchise’s signing of star forward Kawhi Leonard on his show Pablo Torre Finds Out last summer, the NBA opened up an investigation of its own into the matter. Ultimately, the league concluded that it had “found a pattern of misconduct and multiple significant rules violations by the Clippers organization.”

After Clippers governor Steve Ballmer initially doubled down on his defense when the NBA handed down its punishment, which resulted in his suspension from the league, the Clippers losing five first-round draft picks, and being fined $30 million, among other penalties, the Clippers have since agreed to accept the ruling in full.
Leonard, who received a slap on the wrist relative to the Clippers, asserted throughout the NBA’s investigation that he was not aware of any salary-cap circumvention from his camp. As all sides looked to move on, the Clippers completed the trade to send Leonard to the Toronto Raptors, after the deal was held up amid the NBA’s investigation. In his introductory press conference with the Raptors, Leonard sidestepped questions about the situation involving his former team.
“I think the best decision is to move forward and focus on my time being a Toronto Raptor,” Leonard said at the presser. “I already was a distraction for the past 70 days and wasn’t able to meet with my teammates, do any of that minicamp stuff with them.”
As eager as all parties involved may be to put the scandal behind them, PTFO released a follow-up report on Tuesday that pointed toward Leonard being fully aware of the goings-on all along.
On Wednesday, Sportsnet’s Michael Grange asked Leonard if he paid attention to Torre’s reporting surrounding him and how he tuned out the distractions.
“No, I don’t follow it, you know. I don’t know what to think of it or really expect,” The two-time NBA Finals MVP responded. “I’m not entertained by it, so, like I said before, the NBA did their job, the (Players Association) did their job, and, yeah, I don’t know. I don’t even know what he’s talking about.”
“No, I don’t follow it … I’m not entertained by it.”

As he demonstrated on Tuesday, Torre has shown no signs of slowing down his investigative work into Leonard or Ballmer, who is now under scrutiny from the Department of Justice. To this point, Leonard has largely managed to dodge scrutiny of his role in the scandal that brought down this era of Clippers basketball, but it’s becoming increasingly likely that he’ll have to address things in a meaningful way eventually.
