Steelers Connected to Potential $14.6 Million Move to Support Aaron Rodgers

The Pittsburgh Steelers are in the middle of their final run with future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers leading the way. He has made it clear that his plan is to retire following the 2026 NFL season.
Ahead of this season, the front office made an aggressive move to add another weapon for Rodgers. They acquired wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. in a trade with the Indianapolis Colts. Pittman has not panned out well so far, catching five passes for 74 yards and playing in two of the three games this year.

Keeping all of that in mind, the Steelers remain a team to watch for possible roster moves before the NFL trade deadline.
A new suggestion has been made that would see Pittsburgh acquire another weapon for Rodgers. It’s a move that would potentially take the Steelers’ offense to the next level.

Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay has named Pittsburgh as one of the five potential trade suitors for Thomas if the Jacksonville Jaguars decide to place on the trade block.
“At worst, the Steelers cough up a bit of capital for yet another underwhelming wideout who fails to pan out for them. At best, Thomas becomes the new No. 1 WR in Pittsburgh’s offense and retains that role for multiple seasons,” Kay wrote.
“A Thomas trade is worth the risk and could pay massive dividends for a Steelers squad looking to take the next step after years of mediocrity.”
Thomas was drafted by the Jaguars with the No. 23 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. His rookie season was impressive with 87 receptions for 1,282 yards and 10 touchdowns. Last year, he caught 48 passes for 707 yards and two scores.
So far this season, the 23-year-old wideout has managed seven catches for 88 yards.
Depending on the price tag, taking a flier on Thomas would make a lot of sense for the Steelers. He could end up becoming a No. 1 option for Rodgers in Pittsburgh. At the very least, he would be an upgrade over Pittman as the No. 2 behind DK Metcalf.
Rodgers is still playing good football for the Steelers. Investing in another playmaker for him to utilize would be a wise choice.
