The Los Angeles Dodgers have been gearing up for the playoffs over the last couple of weeks as they look to win their third consecutive World Series title. Injuries have hurt them throughout the regular season, but they are nearly back to full strength.

At the beginning of September, the bullpen got a huge boost when veteran Blake Treinen returned from an elbow injury.
“The Dodgers reinstated Treinen (elbow) from the 60-day injured list Wednesday. Treinen will rejoin the Dodgers' bullpen after pitching 6.1 shutout innings between Single-A and Triple-A during his rehab assignment, striking out eight batters in the process,” CBS Sports wrote.
Treinen has been with the Dodgers since signing with the team in 2019, making him a very reliable player whom the organization really trusts. Unfortunately, he will now miss the rest of the season after hurting himself during a bullpen session on Saturday night.
“Dodgers Blake Treinen injured his shoulder while warming up to come into the game. Season is over. Will go for imaging,” Dodgers beat writer Bill Plunkett wrote.
Of course, LA is likely the deepest team in the entire league, but losing a player as reliable as Treinen hurts. He is a great playoff arm to have, especially with all of his experience. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts commented on the injury being season-ending, but he just doesn’t know exactly how severe it is.
“It's unfortunate. He was warming up and it was his shoulder, so I don't know if it was a complete blowout, but really unfortunate," Roberts said. "Obviously it's an IL, his season's over. I saw him and hugged him. I'll circle back."
This is a huge loss for LA right as the playoffs are set to begin. It does create an opportunity for players in the Dodgers bullpen who were on the bubble of the postseason roster.
Treinen is making $11 million this season with the Dodgers. There are still some details to be revealed, but this seems like a very serious injury for the right-handed reliever, to say the least. At 38 years old, this could have been the final blow to his career.
