'A gentle giant': Legendary Commerce football coach Ray Lamb dies at 90

Legendary Commerce football coach Ray Lamb, whom the stadium at Commerce High School is named after, died on Thursday, Sept. 24.
Lamb was 90 and is survived by his children — Bobby, Hal and Lynn — and his grandchildren — Taylor (Bobby's son), Tre (Hal's son) and former Georgia softball catcher Lyndi Rae Davis (Lynn's daughter).

His son's shared their sentiments on X last night, with a statement from Bobby, the head football coach at Anderson University in South Carolina, confirming the news:
"Yesterday, we lost a gentle giant," the post read. "My dad was so much more than a football coach — he was a people person. He had a gift for making people feel valued. His impact and investment in the lives of others was immeasurable. He poured so much of himself into his family, his friends."
