Texans DE Will Anderson compares Colts QB Daniel Jones to Joe Burrow

The Houston Texans are sitting at 0-2 for the second straight season and are trying to avoid going to 0-3 in their game against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.
While they will have to contain Colts running back Jonathan Taylor if they are going to win, Texans All-Pro defensive end Will Anderson is also concerned with their quarterback, Daniel Jones.

“He's tough. He's really tough," Anderson said of Jones. "He kind of reminds me of Joe Burrow in a sense. If you disrespect the pocket, he'll take off on you. He wants to stand in the pocket and he wants to show that he's a quarterback. I think he's been doing a really good job of that. We have a ton of respect for him. It's going to be a great challenge for us. Him and Joe Burrow really remind me a lot of each other. It's going to be good for us.”
Jones may not be the most well-known quarterback for the right reasons entering 2026, but he has done well against the Texans in the past. In his two starts against Houston, he's thrown four touchdowns without throwing an interception. Jones' quarterback rating of 121.2 against the Texans is the fourth-highest quarterback rating he has against any NFL team.
However, Jones and the Colts will be short-handed with their top wide receiver, Alec Pierce, headed to injured reserve after aggravating his heel injury against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 2.
Houston will still have to contend with multiple other players, including wide receiver Josh Downs and tight end Tyler Warren. The Texans were able to shut down Warren in both games last season, holding him to under 30 receiving yards in each contest.
"Coach [Shane] Steichen does a really good job of game-planning plays for Warren, getting him open," Texans coach DeMeco Ryans said. "He's a very good player. He's tough, physical as a run blocker, but he also has the ability to run deep routes and finds a way to get open a lot. It's going to be a challenge for us to make sure we always have eyes on where #84 is at all times because we know he's a game-changer."
