Vanderbilt beat NC State on Saturday in one of the most stunning, improbable college football finishes you will ever see.

NC State led 31-28 and had fourth-and-3 at their own 5-yard line with six seconds remaining. Fearing a blocked punt or a short punt to give Vanderbilt strong field position or the chance for a touchdown return, the Wolfpack opted to try to take a safety and run as much time off the clock as they could.
However, that went horribly. NC State quarterback CJ Bailey was tackled and fumbled, with Vanderbilt’s Cayden Daniels recovering the fumble in the end zone for a Commodores touchdown.
It appeared to be a walk-off touchdown initially, but replay review determined that there was one second remaining. NC State was unable to do much on its play after the ensuing kickoff, and Vanderbilt came away with an unbelievable 35-31 win in Nashville. The Commodores never led the game until the final second.

Andrew Allegretta had the Vanderbilt radio call.
“YOU’VE GOTTA BE KIDDING ME!” Allegretta exclaimed. “ONE OF THE MOST IMPROBABLE FINISHES IN THE HISTORY OF VANDERBILT FOOTBALL… NO WAY!”
Matt Chazanow had the NC State radio play-by-play duties.
“They say it’s a touchdown!” a stunned Chazanow explained. “That’s unbelievable.”
