The kids have been showing out a bit in Anaheim, providing one of the only remaining reasons to watch 2026 Twins baseball as this underwhelming season has normalized itself to fall back in line with preseason projections. Now, it’s our pleasure to watch Walker Jenkins hit the first groove of his big-league career, and Emmanuel Rodriguez show off his skills on both sides of the ball; and as we do that, veteran Joe Ryan heads back to the mount as he continues to give us a glimpse of what we might expect from the right-hander in 2027.

27-year-old Reid Detmers sits on 199 strikeouts heading into tonight’s contest, which the Central timezone eyeballs might hope doesn’t dip back into extra innings, but a subsection of Angels nerds might, because did you know that Joe Mauer has a more recent walk-off hit than Mike Trout does?
The Twins officially have a losing record, but every win down the stretch here gives us a more respectable record to look back upon; additionally, the Detroit Tigers are just a game ahead of Minnesota, meaning a third-place finish remains on the table. That said, the Twins are the next American League team on the chopping block, tied with the Seattle Mariners as the closest teams to outright elimination.
(The Mariners, however, have the AL West in play, as a miraculous final week could technically catch them up to a division-leading pair of teams who do not yet have winning records.)
