Mosimane names Sipho Chaine in new Bafana captaincy plan

While Ronwen Williams will retain the captaincy, Mosimane has confirmed that Sipho Chaine and Themba Zwane will also be part of his leadership group going forward.
Mosimane named his squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and explained how he wants leadership to operate within the Bafana Bafana dressing room.
“I believe in leadership in many ways,” Mosimane said.
“So we won’t have one captain. We have a few captains, and I will choose sometimes a captain of the day. Because if Mbappe is a captain, I think we can also have a young captain. The captain doesn’t have to be a player because he’s 38 or 35, okay.”
Mosimane returns as Bafana coach
Mosimane revealed that Zwane and Chaine will be among the players entrusted with leadership responsibilities.
“Themba Zwane is one of my captains, by the way. So we need young captains. We need young boys to lead and learn how to be a captain,” he added.
“One captain, I don’t believe in that because if you are injured, then you’re not there. And also, the captain must always be playing, right?
“So if you stay with one captain now, you don’t have [another option]. There are a lot of players who have good leadership.”
Mosimane named Chaine as one of the captain in the Bafana squad.
“Chaine is going to be one of the captains, the same as Ronwen. He will remain my captain. Let’s go for it, let’s open this thing.”
Mosimane’s approach means Bafana will have a broader leadership group, with younger players also being given an opportunity to develop their leadership skills within the national team.
