The Miami Heat have one final roster spot left to fill for the upcoming season, and they can do so whenever they want. It is just a matter of what kind of player they are targeting with that final spot.

Miami has already assembled a talented roster, but now they could be looking for a veteran guard.
“There also is something to be said about running with what you have at the moment, while still having a salary slot/roster spot available for a rainy day. Then it becomes about when to pounce, be it on D’Angelo Russell potentially coming free before camp or waiting for something bigger down the road,” Sun Sentinel’s Ira Winderman wrote.
The Heat have also been linked to a reunion with Gabe Vincent.
“I would expect them to go guard for one of their final spots, I think a Gabe Vincent reunion there makes a lot of sense, especially since Bam Adebayo and Erik Spoelstra have been big advocates for him ever since Summer League. I would think that it is very likely at this point that they would give that to Gabe Vincent if he's willing to take a minimum (contract) there. I would expect them to go guard for one of their final spots. I think that Gabe Vincent, a reunion there makes a lot of sense," NBA insider Brett Siegel said.
The Vincent buzz is a legitimate one, as Bleacher Report’s Jake Fischer recently reported that Miami is interested in bringing him back.
“Miami Heat does have interest in Gabe Vincent as well. The Heat are legitimately exploring the backup guard market. Vincent to my understanding is looking for a real playoff environment to join again, he wants to prove himself again in a contending playoff environment,” Fischer wrote.
Vincent would give Davion Mitchell a veteran presence in the backcourt, providing another experienced option for the Heat when needed. The former fan favorite lost his shooting touch due to injuries, which led to inconsistent playing time, but if he can find that form again, he would give Miami another threat from the perimeter.
Vincent has made $37 million in his career to this point. Miami could sign him to a small, prove-it type of deal, which could make the reunion work for both sides. The Heat seem to want him back; they just have to pull the trigger.
