Surprising name headlines NFL passing leaders after Week 1

Week 1 of the NFL season is officially in the books after the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Denver Broncos on “Monday Night Football.”
Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes finished the game with 184 yards through the air, two touchdowns, and an interception as the Chiefs rolled to a 31-10 win. It was his first game since Dec. 14 of last year, when he tore his ACL.

Week 1 featured a lot of great quarterback play, headlined by New Orleans Saints quarterback Tyler Shough. The Saints fell behind 21-0 to the Detroit Lions in the third quarter before Shough helped them storm back and force overtime. The Saints had the chance to win the game with a two-point conversion in OT, but couldn’t convert and lost 31-30.
Despite that, Shough leads all quarterbacks with 410 passing yards going into Week 2. He was that good against the Lions.
Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love is right behind Shough with 387 passing yards. He did what he could, but the Packers lost 39-22 to the Minnesota Vikings.
Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young was involved in a crazy game with the Chicago Bears. The Bears won 59-37, though Young had a great game, finishing with 361 passing yards, three touchdowns, and one interception. He’s third-most in passing yards among quarterbacks after Week 1.
The passing leaders can and will change throughout the season, and it will be fun to see who stands alone at the top once the season ends.
