With Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs pleading no contest to his misdemeanor charges, the focus now is on the discipline he will receive from the NFL. As the football world wonders how the NFL will discipline the Packers running back in Jacobs, Green Bay head coach Matt LaFleur spoke about his player regarding the recent developments.

Speaking to the media on Friday, LaFleur was asked if his opinion on Jacobs has changed after he took full responsibility for his actions, leading the coach to say “No” without hesitation. When asked a follow-up about why he feels that way, LaFleur would speak on knowing the “character” of Jacobs.

“Because I know the guy and I know the character of the guy, so I’ve said it many times, and unfortunately situations occur in life, and it’s just an unfortunate situation,” LaFleur said.

LaFleur would then be asked about the rationale for keeping Jacobs on the team, leading to the coach not answering the question until the NFL completes its own investigation on the 28-year-old.

“I’m not going to get into any of this until the league completes its investigation,” LaFleur said.

When will a suspension come for Packers running back Josh Jacobs 

While Jacobs pleaded no contest to the charges of misdemeanor battery and criminal property damage, NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that the NFL said there is “no timetable” for when the discipline will come.

“With Josh Jacobs pleading no contest to misdemeanor charges of battery and criminal damage to property, the NFL said there is ‘no timetable’ as to when he could be disciplined,” Schefter wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “A league official said: We have been closely monitoring all developments in the matter, which remains under review of the personal conduct policy. There is no change to his status as he remains on the Commissioner’s Exempt list.’

As Schefter mentioned, Jacobs is still on the Commissioner’s Exempt list, as it remains to be seen when the NFL will give the suspension to the running back. The Packers start the season on Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings.
