Milwaukee Brewers declared “the perfect team” by former rival amid historic pace in 2026

· Yahoo Sports

The Milwaukee Brewers are 91-56 on the season with 15 games left to play in 2026. As of this writing, they are the only team in Major League Baseball with 90+ wins and have a 1.5-game lead over the Los Angeles Dodgers for the best record among all 30 teams.

While Milwaukee’s success is not really a surprise to their fans, they have once again proven preseason predictions claiming they will decline to be wrong. Many pundits did not think the Brewers would win more than 82 games despite the fact that they have won the National League Central Division three years in a row.

They are all-but-guaranteed to win a fourth consecutive division crown this year.

Now, all the national media has is praise for what Milwaukee has built.

Mark DeRosa says the Milwaukee Brewers are the perfect baseball team

One of the national media members that has taken a shining to the Brewers is Mark DeRosa, a former National League Central rival who now works for MLB Network (he also managed Brice Turang on Team USA in the World Baseball Classic).

“I think Matt Arnold and Pat Murphy have put the perfect team together. They have a manager out of a Hollywood script. You’re telling me you wouldn’t run through a brick wall for Pat Murphy, aka Lou Brown from Major League? You look up the definition of manager in the Webster’s dictionary and there’s a picture of Pat Murphy.

“We have a true ace, a one-of-one that walk into any ballpark, any given night, match up against their best, and I would lean Misiorowski right now.”

DeRose also discusses how elite Milwaukee’s defense is. He praises Cooper Pratt for his stellar play at shortstop, and shouts out Joey Ortiz (who lost his job to Pratt) for playing elite-level defense at third base. Additionally, he notes that all of the Brewers’ outfielders play “awesome” defense.

There was, truly, no aspect of Milwaukee’s team that DeRosa did not praise. He shouted out multiple players, including Jake Bauers and William Contreras, for how they flow in the lineup and grind out tough at-bats. Additionally, he praised the bullpen as the best in the game, noting how great Abner Uribe has been.

The only question now is how far will this Brewers team go. As mentioned, they have won their division in each of the past three seasons. However, they have yet to make it to the World Series and win it.

Doing so will hush the offseason predictions of decline and, perhaps, lead more people to view Milwaukee the way DeRosa does now.
