Sam Darnold injury: Seahawks QB to locker room after sack

The Seattle Seahawks honored the team that won Super Bowl LX on Wednesday night, before kicking off the 2026 NFL season against the team they beat in that game.

But after their first offensive drive of the game, the quarterback that won that game was in the blue medical tent.

Sam Darnold limped off the field following a sack on that opening drive, which ended a Seattle possession and forced a punt. Medical staff initially checked Darnold out on the sideline, but then he limped first to the blue medical tent, and then to the locker room.

After the Seattle defense forced a punt, Darnold was on his way to the locker room, and backup quarterback Drew Lock was entering the game with the rest of the Seahawks offense.

Update: Darnold has officially been listed as questionable to return with a hip injury.
