The Minnesota Timberwolves have a new sense of buzz surrounding the organization as they prepare to be true title contenders for the first time in a long while. It is all going to be led by franchise star Anthony Edwards.

The Timberwolves have made several impactful moves this summer, making the outlook for next season extremely exciting. First, they made a blockbuster trade for LaMelo Ball.
“The Charlotte Hornets are trading star guard LaMelo Ball and Josh Green to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Naz Reid and a series of draft picks, sources told ESPN's Shams Charania on Thursday. In addition to Reid, the Hornets will receive a 2033 unprotected first-round pick and three second-round picks (2029, 2032, 2033). Charlotte also gets first-round pick swaps in 2028, 2029 and 2030,” ESPN’s Ohm Youngmisuk wrote.
After that, the Timberwolves stayed relatively quiet for the rest of the summer. That was until recently, when they signed NBA champion Jonathan Kuminga to a deal.
“Jonathan Kuminga has agreed to a two-year, $13 million deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves, plus a player option, agent Aaron Turner tells ESPN. Kuminga will be a starter alongside Anthony Edwards, LaMelo Ball, Jaden McDaniels and Rudy Gobert on the West contender,” ESPN’s Shams Charania wrote.
Edwards' confidence is at an all-time high, and it should be with the roster he has around him. Kuminga recently arrived in Minnesota for the first time, where Edwards met him. The Timberwolves' franchise star has already made it clear that he believes Minnesota will win the championship this season.
“Y’all see what going on. This sht over, man. Wrap this sht up. This sh*t over this year, man,” Edwards said.
The Timberwolves have the roster to make a championship run in the Western Conference, but they will obviously have to get past the Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs. That alone will be a major challenge.
The confidence is there, but it cannot turn into arrogance, which could obviously alter Minnesota's plans. The Timberwolves are set up to have one of their most successful seasons yet, and Edwards knows it. His message to the NBA was sent loud and clear.
