Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Targets For Week 1
Tyler Allgeier, RB, Arizona Cardinals (48% rostered)
The Cardinals selected Jeremiyah Love with the third pick in the 2026 Draft, hoping he will be their workhorse running back for years to come. They also brought in Allgeier, who has experience being a backup to a young star running back. Serving behind Bijan Robinson on the Falcons last season, he still ran for 514 yards and eight touchdowns. Love is still working his way back from an ankle injury, although head coach Mike LaFleur is optimistic that he will play in Week 1. Even if he does play, his snap count could be limited. Allgeier could receive an increased workload or at least be a top option inside the red zone for his matchup with the Chargers.
Dalton Schultz, TE, Houston Texans (47% rostered)
The Texans didn’t have great options at wide receiver last season behind Nico Collins. That helped Schultz set career highs in targets (106), receptions (82), and receiving yards (777). In 0.5 PPR scoring formats, Schultz finished the season as TE14 among tight ends who appeared in at least 10 games. The Texans will have limited options at wide receiver behind Collins again with Jayden Higgins (knee) out for the season and Tank Dell (knee) beginning the season on IR. Schultz should again be one of the focal points of their passing attack.
Tyler Shough, New Orleans Saints (40% rostered)
The Saints have a tough matchup against the Lions in Week 1. The Lions have one of the best offenses in the NFL, but their defense allowed 24.3 points per game last season. Part of that can be attributed to teams needing to throw a lot against them to try and keep pace with their offense. Shough won’t have promising rookie wide receiver Jordyn Tyson (hamstring) at his disposal for Week 1, but he still has weapons in Chris Olave and Devaughn Vele at wide receiver. Juwan Johnson is also a good option in the passing game at tight end. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see Shough approach 40 pass attempts in this matchup, which makes him a viable fantasy option.
Tre Tucker, WR, Las Vegas Raiders (28% rostered)
The Raiders have one of the best tight ends in the NFL in Brock Bowers. They also have one of the best up-and-coming running backs in Ashton Jeanty. However, their wide receiver options leave a lot to be desired. Tucker figures to lead the position, with Jalen Nailor and Jack Bech behind him on the depth chart. As their top wide receiver for most of last season, Tucker set career highs in receptions (57), receiving yards (696), and touchdown receptions (five). He has a great matchup against what should be one of the worst teams in the league in the Dolphins, so Tucker could provide value in deeper formats.
Malik Washington, WR, Miami Dolphins (13% rostered)
Like the Raiders, the Dolphins don’t have much talent to brag about at wide receiver. Washington will likely be their WR1 out of the gate, with Jalen Tolbert, Caleb Douglas, and Chris Bell behind him on the depth chart. Unlike the Raiders, the Dolphins don’t have an elite tight end with Greg Dulcich being their option at the position. Washington only had a 13.9% target share last season, but that number could increase significantly this year. Combine that with the Raiders tying for the fourth-most receptions allowed to wide receivers last season and Washington could be productive in the first game with Malik Willis under center for the Dolphins.
Takeaway
Tucker and Washington could provide help off the waiver wire for Week 1, while Schultz is an underrated tight end option. Allgeier could benefit from Love’s injury at running back, and Shough has the potential to rack up fantasy points in what should be a high-scoring matchup with the Lions.
