Weather: These parts of South Africa face severe storms today

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has warned of dangerous conditions across parts of the central and eastern interior, with some areas facing a higher risk of flooding, damaging winds and hail.
Orange Level 6 warning for severe storms
The Free State and eastern parts of the Northern Cape face the most serious conditions, with an Orange Level 6 warning for severe thunderstorms.
The storms could cause flooding in vulnerable settlements and on roads, while strong winds and hail could damage structures and bring down trees.
Excessive lightning could also disrupt municipal services.
Yellow Level 2 warning covers five provinces
SAWS has also issued a Yellow Level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms over southern Gauteng, the Highveld of Mpumalanga, southern and central parts of North West, large parts of northern Free State and areas in the extreme north-east of the Northern Cape.
The storms could cause localised damage to structures, falling trees and local fire incidents linked to excessive lightning.
Gauteng faces a stormy afternoon
Gauteng will remain cloudy and cold to cool on Monday, with showers and thundershowers expected across the province.
According to SAWS Gauteng has a 60% chance of showers and thundershowers, particularly during the afternoon.
The Yellow Level 2 warning means residents in the affected parts of the province should prepare for possible heavy downpours, localised flooding, damaging winds and hail.
