14 hospitalized at Chainsmokers dance pop concert

Fourteen concertgoers in San Jose were hospitalized on Friday night during a show by pop group The Chainsmokers, the New York Post reported.
The local fire department said it received reports of a number of patients requiring medical attention at Discovery Meadow Park.
“SJFD immediately requested an Ambulance Task Force, two additional advanced life support fire units, and a Battalion Chief to manage the incident and provide additional medical resources,” it wrote on social media .
Ambulances responded and took people to local hospitals.
Drugs, alcohol involved: Police
San Jose Police told NBC patients were taken to hospital for a number of reasons, including suspected drug and alcohol abuse. Police added paramedics treated some patients at the park.
In a Reddit post , an online poster wrote they saw “a lot of people getting taken out early.”
“ Drugs, heat, and dehydration can do a lot of damage. I’ve seen it at many concerts,” posted another.
Another user added: “I saw a lot of people crash out. A few people did not look like they were gonna make it. You got know how to handle your drugs if you’re gonna do them.”
Who are The Chainsmokers?
The Chainsmokers are a New York-based electronic dance pop duo (EDM) that went viral in 2014 with their hit “ Selfie. ” Their single “Closer” topped the Billboard Hot 100 for 12 weeks in 2016. Other hits include “Don’t Let Me Down,” and “Something Just Like This” with Coldplay.
The incident has once again highlighted drug use at EDM concerts. DJ Steve Aoki told Larry King in 2015 that it’s an unfair stigma, but admitted he has seen people overdose and die at such venues.
“It’s unfortunate that EDM or dance music at large gets the big spotlight,” he said.
