SAWS issues six warnings today, 4 September

Friday, 4 September, has SAWS running six separate warnings at once, split between Yellow Level 4 and Yellow Level 2 alerts. Between them, they cover damaging wind, disruptive rainfall and severe thunderstorms across five provinces.

SAWS confirms six active warnings today: four Yellow Level 4 warnings and two Yellow Level 2 warnings.
the Yellow Level 4 warnings
The first is a Yellow Level 4 warning for damaging wind, covering the Namakwa district in the Northern Cape, plus the Cape Winelands and Central Karoo districts in the Western Cape.
Running until Friday.
It threatens damage to temporary structures and settlements, injuries from flying debris, and problems for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes.
The second is a Yellow Level 4 warning for damaging wind, covering the western parts of the Western Cape.
Running from the afternoon into Friday, plus the northern interior of the Eastern Cape.
The third is a Yellow Level 4 warning for disruptive rainfall, covering the eastern parts of the Overberg district, along with the Garden Route, Langeberg and Laingsburg municipalities in the Western Cape.
Expect flooding of roads, settlements, low-lying areas and bridges, plus major disruption to traffic flow.
The fourth is a Yellow Level 4 warning for damaging wind and waves, covering the coast between Alexander Bay and Plettenberg Bay, running until Friday.
It threatens disruption to ports and harbours, along with danger to navigation at sea.
the Yellow Level 2 warnings
The first is a Yellow Level 2 warning for disruptive rainfall, covering the south coast and eastern parts of the Eastern Cape,
A risk of localised flooding to settlements, roads, low-lying areas and bridges.
The second is a Yellow Level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms, covering the western parts of the Free State.
Bringing a risk of wind and hail damage, falling trees and fire incidents from excessive lightning.
Alongside all six warnings, extremely high fire danger remains active over the central parts of the country, including most of KwaZulu-Natal.

It’s a genuinely busy warnings day, with five provinces carrying some form of active alert at once.
