Draymond Green Takes A Shot At Jonathan Kuminga’s Agent: ‘This Ain’t Monopoly Money’

Draymond Green has now become one of several NBA players who are openly questioning Aaron Turner, who is the agent of Jonathan Kuminga, following his recent remarks on the Kevin O’Connor podcast.

The Warriors’ veteran initially expressed concern about the contract when the deal was agreed upon, but has now called out Aaron Turner for his remarks in a subsequent interview after the deal was announced.

Green referred to Turner’s comments from the Kevin O’Connor podcast, where he claimed that turning a $24.3 million team option into a $6.3 million player option is arguably not a concession from the perspective of a player taking control of his narrative.

“That’s bulls–t,” Draymond Green said in a candid reaction he posted on social media from his own podcast, ‘The Draymond Green Show.’“This is a tough one for me because I love JK. And I’ve met Aaron, a great guy. But this is not good.”

“‘We felt putting ourselves in the most-tradable vehicle to get him out of that situation was super important, and that’s why we took a lesser deal. If you look at the team option converting into a player option, I would argue that he hasn’t conceded anything.'” Draymond Green quoted the part of Aaron Turner’s comments he was referring to.

“Number one, absolutely unnecessary to talk about this man’s pockets on a podcast. Being privy to all that information, I don’t think it’s a great idea for an agent to be on a podcast talking about a guy’s money and how much they lost and what they gained and like talking about somebody’s 11 and a half million dollars, ‘that’s it’… ‘That’s it’?! This ain’t Monopoly money!” exclaimed Green.

“Out here telling this young fella’s business man. That ain’t cool, that ain’t it at all,” Draymond Green said as he called out Turner.

 

Former NBA players Ty Lawson and Gilbert Arenas were also very unhappy with how Aaron Turner managed the Jonathan Kuminga contract situation. Lawson even urged Kuminga to fire his agent.

Jonathan Kuminga reportedly skipped offers ranging from $25 million per year on the Warriors (a three-year, $75.2 million deal was reportedly on the table last summer) to $12 million per year on the Lakers (a three-year, $36 million deal was apparently rejected this summer), and that made Turner and Kuminga subject to a lot of scrutiny.

While Draymond Green is clearly against Aaron Turner revealing information that only he and his client should know, it’s worth noting that this is a pivot from what he said a few weeks ago.

Draymond Green recently justified openly criticizingJalen Brunson in 2024 after he took a $113 million pay cut to sign an extension with the Knicks. When Josh Hart called him out now, two years later, Green doubled down, saying he was right about the impact.

But now, claiming that Jonathan Kuminga’s negotiation details should have been kept private and not subject to public scrutiny seems like Green wants to be selective about whose finances are open for discussion.
