Several LSU football players defended LSU's attempt to add ex-NFL players to the roster. LSU is hoping to have former Ole Miss tight end Dae'Quan Wright and former Ole Miss defensive tackle Zxavian Harris on the field this year. Both were undrafted free agents in 2026 and neither made an NFL roster, opening up the door for a college return.
LSU's bold roster moves have drawn attention across the sport and put a spotlight on the program, as many conferences and universities oppose players who have signed pro contracts returning to college. LSU linebacker Whit Weeks is unfazed.

"I don't think it's really a distraction for us in the building at all," Weeks said, "With the last four years, how college football's gone, you kind of just got to be ready to expect anything.
Weeks said LSU head coach Lane Kiffin approached the leadership council last week and asked if the team was open to bringing these players in.
"He said if we don't want them to come back and play, then they won't come back. But we were like, if that's the rule, we might as well go ahead and take these guys. But as far as what I've seen from them in the short amount of time that I've gotten to know them, it's just the experience that they bring and how they go about their business."
LSU tight end Trey'Dez Green had positive words to say and has enjoyed sharing a position room with Wright.
"Even if it means less catches, less yards, I'm all about bringing this national championship back to Baton Rouge. Dae'Quan is amazing. I had a chance to talk with him, and it's just been going up. We clicked ever since we met each other," Green said.
LSU center Braelin Moore was also happy to add Wright, according to Matt Moscona. Moore and Wright played together at Virginia Tech.

Fans have wondered what current LSU players feel about the new additions with the season so close, but it appears the locker room is united behind the idea.
Still, it remains unclear if Wright or Harris will even play a snap for LSU. Legal proceedings are ongoing, but there should be more information by the end of the week.
