Teams around the NFL are still searching for help, with the Washington Commanders among them.
The Commanders, who were linked to Brandon Aiyuk throughout a lot of the offseason, decided to go in a different direction and land Stefon Diggs.
Diggs has had his own off-field problems, but has been an elite player for much of his career. He might not be what he once was, but he's still above average and should help Jayden Daniels and the Commanders.
His brother is also on the market at the moment, and there seems to be an expectation that he could find himself on a new team sometime over the next few weeks.
With training camp now here, Trevon Diggs is probably looking to find a home in the near future. One writer put the clues together and suggested that Trevon and Stefon could team up in Washington, as the Commanders have a need at the moment.
“The Washington Commanders refused to address their cornerback room in free agency, which is exactly why Dan Quinn will eye a familiar face to get some much-needed help. Diggs was waived by the Dallas Cowboys and then cut by the Green Bay Packers last season.
“While that might spell the end of his brief NFL career, it also provides an opportunity for a team like the Commanders to jump at landing him because they need him imminently. Trey Amos and Mike Sainristil are both still on rookie contracts. They need some veteran depth,” Wynston Wilcox wrote.
Having the Diggs brothers on the roster would be a risk in the sense that both of them have dealt with some injuries and aren't what they once were, but if the Commanders could get even 75% of what they've been throughout their careers, they'd be adding two major players to their roster right before the start of the season.
There's a lot to like about what both of them could bring to the team, so the Commanders could look to pursue this in the future.
