Rangers make another line change, shuffle roster before stretch vs. right-handed pitchers

ANAHEIM, Calif. — The Texas Rangers made another line change with four right-handed starting pitchers due up in their next five games.
The Rangers selected outfielder Jarred Kelenic's contract and designated infielder Jonah Bride for assignment prior to Tuesday's game against the Los Angeles Angels at Angel Stadium. Bride's contract was selected this weekend to play consecutive games against left-handed starting pitchers, and with that window now passed, they've swapped him out for a position player they believe will fare better against a string of right-handed starting pitchers.

Kelenic, who spent a week with the Rangers earlier this season after they signed him to a minor league contract, had been on a heater at Triple-A Round Rock prior to his most recent promotion. The former top prospect has slashed .360/.448/.600 in his last seven games, and against minor league right-handed pitchers this season, he's slashed .293/.393/.548 with 11 home runs.
"He's well-deserving of the promotion," Rangers manager Skip Schumaker said. "He's proved that he's ready not to be in Triple-A anymore."
The 27-year-old did not start Tuesday's game vs. Angels right-handed pitcher Ryan Johnson but is expected to play "in the next couple of days" against righties George Klassen and Walbert Ureña.
Bride went 1 for 5 with two strikeouts in two games before he was designated for assignment.
