Minions & Monsters Is Now Available to Watch at Home

The third Minions film is landing on digital just over 40 days after it was first released in theaters. The latest movie from Illumination Studios grossed over $473 globally on a reportedly modest budget of $85 million, placing it narrowly in the top 10 highest-grossing movies of the year so far.
While it didn’t quite match the heights of Despicable Me 4 at the box office, Minions & Monsters does currently sit as one of the best-reviewed movies in Illumination’s franchise. IGN’s own 8/10 review called the cinephile-oriented Minions movie "the best one yet.”
Minions & Monsters Lands on Digital
Minions & Monsters is now available to rent for $19.99 or purchase digitally for $29.99. Digital extras, including a spread of behind-the-scenes featurettes, are only included if you go for the full purchase. Prime Video is also offering a digital bundle of all three Minions movies for $49.99, $10 off what they would usually cost full price.
The new Minions movie is a prequel that takes us back to the 20th century. In pursuit of a new ‘Big Boss,’ a tribe of Minions mistakes an actor for a prolific villain, bringing them in contact with the world of Hollywood. In the words of IGN’s reviewer, Eric Goldman, “Minions & Monsters uses those little banana-loving dudes to make an ode to early Hollywood and to the power of cinema and storytelling.”
The latest Minions movie is also up for preorder on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K. Amazon has actually knocked a couple of bucks off the 4K collector’s edition, making it pretty much the same price as the digital version. The only downside? You’ll have to wait until the DVD ships on September 8, but then you’ll actually get to keep it forever.
We haven’t heard anything specific about what’s next for the Despicable Me franchise or the Minions. In recent years, Illumination has expanded their franchise portfolio by partnering with Nintendo on the Mario movies.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, which was released in theaters earlier this year, did manage to cross the $1 billion mark at the global box office and currently stands as the highest-grossing animated movie of 2026. It wouldn’t be too surprising if the animation studio focuses their efforts on the world of Nintendo in the forseeable future.
When Will Minions & Monsters Come to Streaming?
Minions & Monsters will eventually join the rest of the Despicable Me franchise on Peacock. Despicable Me 4 took about four months to land on the service when it was released back in 2024. Assuming it follows a similar timeline, the third Minions movie should be available to Peacock subscribers by the end of October.
