Colorado State adds to Ring of Honor, including a baseball player

Colorado State has added five members to its Ring of Honor.
The group includes two from the football program, one from women's basketball, one from volleyball and one from the now-defunct baseball program.

The Ring of Honor is one of the top ways for CSU to honor past athletes after it was added in 2025.
Here is the 2026 class:
Felix 'Tippy' Martinez, baseball
The left-handed pitcher posted a 10-1 record for CSU in 1972, the only 10-win season in program history. His school-record 1.25 ERA was second in the nation.
Martinez went on to have a 14-year pro career. He became the all-time saves leader for the Baltimore Orioles and helped the franchise win the World Series in 1983. Martinez finished with 115 saves and 55 wins in his MLB career.
CSU's baseball program shuttered in 1992. The school does have a successful club program.
Katie Cronin, women's basketball
Cronin started all 125 games of her CSU career and was a three-time honorable mention All-American. Cronin helped lead two CSU conference championship teams and was an integral part of the 1998-99 team that went 33-3 and made it to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.
Clark Haggans, football
Haggans helped CSU win conference titles in 1997 and 1999 and still holds CSU career records for sacks (33) and tackles-for-loss (54). Haggans played 13 years in the NFL and won a Super Bowl with the Steelers.
Haggans died in 2023 at the age of 46.
Lawrence McCutchen, football
McCutchen racked up nearly 3,000 rush yards (2,917) at CSU. He was the first back to have a 1,000-yard season and did so back-to-back in 1970 and 1971. He was an honorable mention All-American in 1970. McCutchen became a five-time Pro Bowler in the NFL with the Los Angeles Rams.
Diane Saba, volleyball
Saba briefly played basketball at CSU but became a first-team All-American in volleyball in 1987. Saba left with a school record in solo blocks, and the Rams made the NCAA Tournament all four years of her career. Saba played professionally and then coached at both Windsor and Fort Collins high schools.
Haggans and McCutchen will have their names added to the Canvas Stadium ring on Sept. 19 when CSU hosts BYU. Cronin, Martinez and Saba will have banners raised in Moby Arena. Saba will be honored on Sept. 18 during volleyball's match against Colorado. Cronin and Martinez's dates will be announced at a later date during the basketball season. All five are members of Colorado State's Athletics Hall of Fame.
CSU's guidelines for Ring of Honor eligibility are for "those who are at least 10 years past their graduation year, have forged a decade-plus in American professional leagues, participated in the Olympics in their predominant sport, reached All-American status as a collegian or were named their conference player of the year. Others may be honored through special circumstances deemed worthy of the honor by the athletic director."
