Patrick Mahomes is determined to be back in superstar from following injury rehab while he and the Kansas City Chiefs gear up for the 2026 NFL season.

Mahomes is preparing for the 10th season of his career in the league with the Chiefs. He has enjoyed incredible campaigns that saw him win three Super Bowl titles and two MVP awards, building his case as one of the best quarterbacks of all time.
However, the second half of the 2025 campaign cut his run in abrupt fashion. He tore his ACL and LCL as he missed the remainder of the season, rehabbing throughout the past couple of months.
Mahomes spoke with media following Saturday’s training camp session. When a reporter asked about his current health and availability for the upcoming season, he said he tries to handle it in a smart way as he takes his recovery with one step at a time.
“I forget about it sometimes, I try to be smart—it’s about learning to play with what I got—we’re just going to keep pushing it so I can hopefully get that ok to go out there and play week 1,” Mahomes said.

But if there is one quarterback who can persevere through these challenges, Mahomes would certainly be a strong candidate.
Mahomes continues to be remarkable with his performances as a superstar quarterback before the injuries struck him down. In 14 games throughout 2025, he completed 315 passes for 3,587 yards and 22 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. He also added 64 rushes for 422 yards and five touchdowns on the ground.
The Chiefs will seek to improve upon their 6–11 record from 2025. Not only that, but they also intend to make the playoffs after a one-year absence and reclaim the AFC West title. Getting back to the Super Bowl will also be a major objective in their chances of success.
Kansas City’s season will get underway at home for Week 1. They look forward to a division rivalry clash with the Denver Broncos on Sept. 14 at 8:15 p.m. ET.
