The news for the game is that Springer is scratched because of shoulder tightness. And Vlad is back in the lineup.

Beyond that, Zack Wheeler was whining about the Jays wanting him to, you know, follow the rules:

You know, they’ve lost a lot of games over there, so they’re probably trying to pick some things up to complain about.

Well, seemed to work, because they hit him pretty good. You know that teams are going to be pushing the umpires on this for the rest of the season. From Sportsnet:

According to the MLB rulebook, a pitcher must touch the rubber while beginning his throwing motion. However, Wheeler appears to pitch with his right foot on the front edge of the rubber, nearly off the mark.

Tonight, Max Scherzer tries to build on his best start of the season, against the Cardinals last week. Hopefully, tonight will be a step better. Aaron Nola (3-9, 5.55 ERA in 23 starts, leading the league with 28 home runs allowed). But then the Jays know how to make any pitcher look good.
