ESPN’s Lindsey Thiry has viral moment with massive pest at Rams camp
· Yahoo Sports
While the NFL season is still a few weeks away, we are still right in the thick of bug season. Insects all over the country are reporting to outdoor areas to crawl and fly around and make the most of their incredibly short lifespans. For the most part these tiny creatures go unseen, but every once in a while, they interact with humans.
On Thursday one of those interactions was caught on video at Los Angeles Rams training camp when a large flying insect invaded the space of ESPN’s Lindsey Thiry. The NFL reporter was preparing to go live when she was approached by the unidentified bug. Thiry kept her hands up as she backpedaled and eventually knocked the bug down with her microphone.

The clip was then shown on “NFL Live” following her report on Aaron Donald. The clip was then shared on X by ESPN VP of PR Bill Hoffmeier with Thiry quote-tweeting the video and confirming it was in fact a “really big bug.”
All things considered, Thiry did a pretty good job keeping her composure in this situation. Some people would have run or made some much more embarrassing sounds. Just this morning my 9-year-old had a total freakout when a small spider appeared in the car. In the future I’ll make sure he always has a handheld microphone available to defend himself.
Aaron Donald update
Considering Thiry has to go viral for being attacked by a bug while just trying to do her job, it’s only fair that we take a look at her actual report from Rams’ training camp.

According to Thiry, Donald looked good in his workout earlier this week. Whether or not Donald returns will come down to how he feels and a decision could come as soon as the Rams finish their training camp.
Donald last played in the Rams’ Wild Card loss to the Detroit Lions in January 2024. While he sat out the last two seasons, he just turned 35 in May. He registered eight sacks in 2023 and was named first team All-Pro for the eighth time in his 10-year career.
