Celebrini Wins Award, Featured Heavily in 2026 Iteration of The Hockey News Awards

In the June 26 issue of The Hockey News, a panel of experts voted on a number of awards. While San Jose Sharks forward Macklin Celebrini only earned one award himself, he was a significant presence in the award voting process.
First, Celebrini was named the winner of the 2026 Cam Neely Award for the top breakout player in the NHL. It would've been hard to justify any other player earning this award, as Celebrini was breaking franchise records before the age of 20, however Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Darren Raddysh had a tremendous season as well, earning himself second place.

When it came to the Mario Lemieux Award for the NHL's best player, Celebrini was in the mix, but didn't come out with the hardware. The now 20-year-old forward's 45 goals and 115 points were enough to earn him fourth in the voting, behind the winner, Connor McDavid, Nathan MacKinnon, and Nikita Kucherov.
Celebrini did have a slightly stronger showing in the Wayne Gretzky Award voting though. The Gretzky Award is given to the player deemed most valuable to their team each year. Celebrini finished third in the voting, behind just MacKinnon, who took home the title, and McDavid.
Although Celebrini wasn't able to win the Gretzky or Lemieux this season, it's likely that he'll get there at some point in the very near future.
