The MLB trade deadline is quickly approaching, giving teams one last chance to upgrade their rosters for the playoff push.

This year, only a few teams are definitely out of the postseason hunt, creating an air of mystery surrounding what trades will look like. That could lead to some surprise sellers or the possibility of two contenders trading with each other more frequently.

The biggest name available is Tarik Skubal, the two-time reigning AL Cy Young winner, as the Detroit Tigers continue to fall in the AL standings. Any team acquiring Skubal would get the benefit of arguably the best pitcher in baseball until he hits free agency this offseason.

Angels asking for Red Sox top prospect in Zach Neto deal

The Angels don't have to trade Neto, but if they do they would like a huge return. Per Healey, Los Angeles is asking for Franklin Arias, a shortstop prospect widely considered to be one of the best prospects in the league.

Blue Jays acquiring Jameson Taillon

The Cubs just DFA'd Taillon, but Chicago finds a trade partner with Toronto before Taillon became a free agent. Taillon has struggled this year and will just be rotation depth for an underwhelming Blue Jays team.

Mets sending Freddy Peralta to Rays

Peralta's underwhelming Mets tenure comes to a close with New York trading him to the Rays, who will hope to get a better version of the starter down the stretch. Tampa Bay is sending New York prospects Aidan Smith, Gary Gill Hill and Emilien Pitre to acquire Peralta.

Rangers could either buy or sell ahead of deadline
