49ers work out a pass rusher who used to play for Raheem Morris during his tenure with the Rams

The San Francisco 49ers knew they couldn’t go another practice with only two healthy bodies at edge rusher.
Keion White has an adductor injury. Rookie Romello Height sat out of Saturday’s practice with an undisclosed injury after being carted off with cramps last week, while Cameron Sample was sidelined with a knee injury. Oh, and undrafted free agent edge rusher Mikail Kamara was carted off with an apparent leg/knee injury.

Already without the services of starting defensive ends Mykel Williams (active/PUP) and a recovering Nick Bosa, the 49ers worked out veteran edge rusher Ogbo Okoronkwo, a fifth-round draft pick out of Oklahoma back in 2018. The 31-year-old played one season in Los Angeles under Raheem Morris, when he was the defensive coordinator for the Rams.
Since leaving the Rams in 2021, Okoronkwo spent a season playing under DeMeco Ryans with the Texans before spending the next two years with Jim Schwartz and the Browns.
Okoronkwo was a part-time player for the majority of his career. He’s played roughly 400 snaps per season from 2022 through 2024. Last season, Okoronkwo was with the Eagles. His most productive season came in 2022 under Ryans, when Okoronkwo had an 18.5% pressure rate, 33 stops, and 5 sacks.
We’ll see if Okoronkwo ends up being a player who ends up signing and contributing for the 49ers amid the injuries at the position, or ends up being nothing more than a veteran camp body.
