Games veterans Paul Foster and Alex Marshall - who won two golds together here in 2014 - faced an anxious wait to see if they'd qualified for the semi-finals, needing table-toppers Canada to lose to Norfolk Island.
Having beat South Africa on Saturday morning, bouncing back from their tough tiebreaker defeat to the Canadians on Friday, Scotland's men's pairs were watching the later game with great interest - until it became apparent the favour required was not forthcoming.
Scottish attention swiftly turned to Sophie McGrouther in the women's singles. Having suffered her first defeat on Friday too, also after an extra end, the 23-year-old knew she needed to get the defeat the unbeaten Shea Wilson from Norfolk Island by two sets.
A tough ask and it proved to be too tough a task as Wilson stormed through to the semi-finals in straight sets.
A disappointing end for Team Scotland, who would have hoped to bank at least a couple medals in the bowls.
However, the Para-men's pair and Para-women's pair are both in their respective semi-finals later on Saturday evening, with a victory guaranteeing them a medal on Sunday.
