Penn State's Rival HC Blast SEC at Big Ten Media Days

The Penn State Nittany Lions were one stop away from taking down the mighty Indiana Hoosiers last year. Instead, their quarterback, Fernando Mendoza, led his signature drive, and the catch that was the exclamation point on the game will live in Indiana history forever.
The Hoosiers then went on to win the National Championship in what was an incredibly historic year for them.

Anytime that head coach Curt Cignetti gets behind the microphone, there is a chance for fireworks. Now that he is coming off a National Championship, it is almost a guarantee.
On Thursday, as he stood next to his National Championship Trophy, he was asked a question that ticked him off. He was asked if playing a Big Ten schedule either helps or hurts a team in the playoffs.
His answer began with, "That's a loaded question." After some filler words, he went in on the SEC. I don't think he was even intending to go down this road, but he saw his opportunity and took it.
He said, "The Big Ten is the best league in football. (There are) a lot of really good football teams. It's hard to win on the road. Very physical football teams, very well coached. It definitely prepares you for the Playoffs."
He wasn't done there.
He put an exclamation point on it, saying, "We don't run a hype machine up here in the Midwest. We believe that everything is earned, not given. When we fall short, we say 'we fell short.' We don't cry a river, whine, and complain. And that's why we are the best."
It doesn't take a genius to know who and what he was talking about.
As the debate between the Big Ten and SEC has reached a fever pitch and has actually reached a very goofy level, Cignetti put his foot down. There are simply not that many facts available to debate.
Over the last five to ten years, the Big Ten has clearly, far and wide, been the superior conference. They have won the last three championships, and every time the two conferences match up, the Big Ten comes out on top.
For Penn State, they won't have another opportunity at an SEC school until maybe the playoffs next year. So, if they get anyone, they will get their shot at one of the best.
If they do, they have to hold up Cignetti's argument that the Big Ten is the best conference in the country.
