Transfer report: Kaizer Chiefs complete 5th signing

LANGELIHLE PHILI SINGS FOR KAIZER CHIEFS
According to FARPost journalist Mthokozisi Dube, Amakhosi and Stellenbosch FC have signed the transfer agreement. Phili has also signed a long-term contract with the Glamour Boys.

Dube reported: “Kaizer Chiefs have completed the signing of highly rated winger Langelihle Phili from Stellenbosch FC on a long-term deal. FARPost has established that Chiefs and Stellenbosch have signed the transfer agreement, with the 21-year-old winger also putting pen to paper.”
Phili was born on 21 January 2005 in Tshelimnyama, KwaZulu-Natal. He came through the AmaZulu FC academy before joining Stellenbosch FC.
The winger announced himself in 2023. He won both the Player of the Tournament and Striker of the Tournament awards at the Engen Champ of Champs.
He later helped Stellenbosch FC win the DStv Diski Challenge and the Premier League Next Generation Cup. Phili made his senior debut under Steve Barker in September 2024.
He scored on his senior debut against Nsingizini Hotspurs in the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round.
STELLENBOSCH FC CHAPTER ENDS
Phili also impressed for Amajita. He helped South Africa win the 2025 CAF Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations. The title secured qualification for the FIFA Under-20 World Cup.
Phili enjoyed a memorable 2025/26 season at Stellenbosch FC. The winger won four major individual awards at the club’s annual senior awards ceremony.
Nicknamed “Major,” he was the biggest winner on the night. He collected the Players’ Player of the Season award, voted for by his teammates. He also won the Oshwin Andries Young Player of the Season award.
His popularity with supporters saw him claim the Rama Fans’ Player of the Season prize. Phili completed a clean sweep by winning the Golden Boot as the club’s top goalscorer.
The awards capped a remarkable breakthrough campaign. They also cemented his status as one of South Africa’s brightest young football talents.
The reported deal ends weeks of speculation. It also gives Fernando Da Cruz another attacking option for the 2026/27 Betway Premiership season.
Meanwhile, Kaizer Chiefs and Stellenbosch FC are expected to announce the deal in the looming hours.
