In today's NFL, there is no such thing as too much quality depth in the secondary. On Wednesday morning, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the Seattle Seahawks will be hosting former Dallas Cowboys safety Donovan Wilson for a workout. Wilson does have some familiarity with Seattle's coaching staff. Seahawks defensive coordinator Aden Durde was the defensive line coach for the Cowboys for three years while Wilson was on the team.
While they may not have worked closely with each other given the differences in positions, Wilson would certainly have an idea of what to expect should he ultimately sign with the Seahawks. But with 13 career sacks, it's clear their paths would have crossed plenty in Dallas.

If Wilson does join Seattle, it will only be the second team in his soon-to-be eight years in the NFL. Dallas was Wilson's home for the first seven seasons ever since he was a sixth round selection in the 2019 NFL draft. In his career, Wilson has recorded 444 total tackles, 19 pass defenses and snagged eight interceptions. Last year was particular strong, starting all 15 games played and matching a career-best two interceptions.
Wilson appears to be the versatile type of safety Mike Macdonald covets, and would have no problem finding a way to utilize. With Nick Emmanwori on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list, it might be a good idea to get a veteran in the system as insurance, even if he is expected to be back for the regular season opener.
