· Yahoo Sports
Caitlin Clark has always worn her heart on her sleeve. It’s a big reason why she’s broken records at every level of basketball she’s played. But, it’s also played a role in her nearing an automatic one-game suspension.
Clark was assed her seventh technical foul of the season in the third quarter of the Fever’s dominant 123-88 Wednesday night win over the Sun. It was a quick exchange with Sun guard Saniya Rivers that led the officials to tee her up. Clark commented on the sequence from her point of view in postgame.

That means Clark is now skating on very thin ice. An eighth technical foul would bring a mandatory one-game suspension with it. After that, every two technical fouls also carry a one-game suspension. With a crucial portion of Indiana’s schedule coming up next month, Clark has to be careful with her actions.

"That intensity and that fire is what makes me, me," Clark said. "I don't think I'm going to be playing with that in the back of my head. I think that might hinder my play a little bit. So I think, just continue to be myself and then just try to refocus, focusing on my teammates and how I can help them."
Regardless of whether or not fans agree with every technical Clark has received, they still all count the same. The Iowa legend is on the verge of missing time because of it. Clark missing a game could mean the difference between winning and losing a tight game with big playoff implications.
Clark’s on-court intensity is a big reason why she’s dominated the WNBA at times. She plays with a passion that her teammates feed off of. At some point, though, she’ll have to balance that passion with some stoicism. That rings especially true given the number of eyeballs on her every single game.
