Skip Bayless is getting frustrated with NBA free agency as the league still awaits LeBron James‘ team decision for next season.
The sports media legend never holds back when it comes to hot takes regarding James. However, it’s clear that Bayless is fed up with the four-time NBA champion as he milks his decision for the 2026-27 campaign.

Bayless shares a similar sentiment to others in the world of sports media though, including ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith. The longtime ESPN personality offered a similar take Monday as James’ situation drags on this summer.
“This is pathetic yet so typical, so predictable from the self-proclaimed King, the self-crowned King who has to keep crowning and crowning and crowning himself,” Bayless rants on his 20-minute X video.
James opted to leave the Los Angeles Lakers during this summer’s free agency period. He’s currently mulling offers from several top teams, including the Golden State Warriors, Miami Heat and Philadelphia 76ers.

However, a reunion with the Cleveland Cavaliers remains the most likely outcome based on James’ history with the team. In fact, a return to Cleveland would mark the third separate chapter in LeBron’s career with the Cavs

Bayless finds every opportunity to mock James, especially in regards to the NBA GOAT conversation with Michael Jordan and other league legends. He might actually have a point this time as the NBA world waits on LeBron.

NBA commissioner Adam Silver even revealed recently that the league is waiting on James to finalize next season’s schedule. The 2026-27 season is slated to begin on October 20 ahead of the Emirates NBA Cup later that month.

James continues to make public appearances, including at Fanatics Fest, as fans speculate his next franchise. Agent Rich Paul quickly defended LeBron this week as fans and media continue to get frustrated with the length of his choice.
“It isn’t about creating a spectacle,” Paul said this week. He has a business choice to make. We’re not going to let someone else decide when he makes that choice.
“Why does an athlete have to rush his decision? If you were a top executive choosing between jobs, nobody would rush you. LeBron has earned that same right.”
