WWE Power Rankings ahead of Saturday Night’s Main Event NYC

· Yahoo Sports

Hello everybody, and welcome back to another week of the WWE‘s Men’s Power Rankings. Things are clearly heating up in the WWE, with a title change on RAW last week and the return of a superstar.

This shows that the road to Summerslam is going to be wild and unpredictable at the same time.  That being said, let’s get to this week’s list and see how stories have unfolded since last week.

Have a great day, and may the slams be with you.

10. Bron Breakker:

Bron Breakker won the Tag Team titles on RAW last week, after defeating the Street Profits. There were tons of shenanigans, as Logan Paul and Maxine Dupri both had spots, before Dupri turned heel. That led to the Vision taking advantage of the opportunity, leading to their win.

9. Sami Zayn:

Sami Zayn lost his Undisputed WWE Championship to C.M. Punk, who returned last week. Now that he’s lost the belt, you can bet Zayn will be looking for some sort of redemption this week. For that, Zayn moves back to the ninth spot, because I have a feeling that he’ll be part of the storyline with the other three individuals linked to this title.

8. Trick Williams:

Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes had a match in the main event on SmackDown to determine if Hayes deserved a chance to fight for the U.S. Championship. Unfortunately for him, it was ruled a no contest, which keeps Williams right where he’s at on this list. Going forward, I wouldn’t mind seeing these two lock up in a singles match, with some sort of gimmick, at Summerslam.

7. “Main Event” Jey Uso:

Jey Uso decided to put everyone on notice last week that he’s still hungry for a title. He said that to the now ex-champion Sami Zayn, who looked like he would have entertained that idea. Unfortunately for Zayn, he lost to Punk, which should push Jey out of the picture again. This doesn’t bode well for anyone since an unhinged Jey would be a problem for anyone on the WWE roster. YEET!

6. Penta:

Penta wasn’t scheduled for in-ring work last week again, but he was seen backstage talking to Chad Gable two weeks ago. You still can’t take anything from this, but you can see that maybe Gable might be looking for a title shot in the near future. Regardless, we’ll see what happens on RAW this week, if the WWE chooses to go this route, for both wrestlers.

5. Oba Femi:

Oba Femi will now face Brock Lesnar in a Hell in a Cell match at SummerSlam. However, last week, Femi and Paul Heyman faced off in the ring for a promo. Both of them made great points, but in the end, it will be the Ruler who should win this match with Lesnar. Regardless, this build towards Summerslam is way better than any of the other builds for Wrestlemania. The WWE really kicked it up this summer, and it starts with this match.

4. Seth Rollins:

Seth “Freakin” Rollins came out to cut a promo last Monday on RAW to talk about Roman Reigns. He was going back and forth on some topics before L.A. Knight came out. Knight pointed out that they’re in the same boat when it comes to who should have a shot at Reign’s title. It was right after Rollins’ response when Jimmy Uso showed up and super kicked Knight. Right now, Knight is knee-deep in his feud with the Usos, to even worry about a shot at the OTC, thus giving Rollins a clear path to Reigns at Summerslam.

3.  C.M. Punk:

C.M. Punk returned to action last week as a replacement for Cody Rhodes, after Gunther beat him down in the backstage area. With Monday Night RAW being in Chicago, it was written on the wall that Punk was going to return to action. That return led to Punk beating Sami Zayn for the Undisputed WWE Championship. This win not only put Punk back in the spotlight but also moved him back to third on this list.

2. Roman Reigns:

Roman Reigns was not on TV last week, which means we should see the OTC this week. Regardless, he has his hands full with Seth Rollins and maybe even L.A. Knight, if the Usos keep losing him off. Giving Rollins an ally is the last thing the Bloodline should do, especially if Reigns plans on keeping his belt.

1. Cody Rhodes:

Cody Rhodes remains at the number one spot, even though he has no belt. This could change after Summerslam, but for now, we could be looking at a Fatal 4-way match at this summer’s biggest party. For now, Rhodes has to be fuming after Gunther cost him a chance to win the belt last week on RAW. That, of course, led to Punk winning the championship.
