Miami Heat are looking for more win-now additions to their roster while building an attractive destination for LeBron James.
Even if LeBron goes somewhere else this summer, the Heat are in the middle of a win-now window after acquiring Giannis Antetokounmpo via trade this summer.

Adding LeBron makes Miami contenders, but they have to target other elite win-now additions to make their team more attractive for LeBron, as well as compete for a title next season.
Miami Heat are looking into acquiring Klay Thompson amid LeBron James pursuit
The Miami Herald is reporting that the Heat are looking into acquiring four-time NBA champion Klay Thompson from the Dallas Mavericks.
“Dallas Mavericks guard Klay Thompson, a five-time All-Star and the fourth-most prolific three-point shooter in NBA history, has emerged as a player of strong interest to the Miami Heat, multiple sources said in recent days.”
The report clarifies that the interest in Thompson is regardless of LeBron’s decision, as the Heat clearly could use a veteran shooter with the post-centric Giannis and Bam Adebayo duo.

If the Heat can acquire Klay before LeBron makes his free agency decision, they will be a lot more appealing as a destination.
How the Miami Heat can acquire Klay Thompson
Thompson averaged 11.7 points on 38.7% from three with the Mavericks last season.
With Dallas under new management and focused on the future, the 36-year-old Thompson seems like an odd fit.
The Heat can try to arrange a trade with the Mavericks, which swaps the under-performing Nikola Jovic for Thompson, but Jovic’s long-term deal and low production compared to Thompson’s expiring deal might be a bad bet to make.
The Mavericks have a crowded frontcourt already and don’t have the minutes for Jovic either. The Heat don’t have draft assets to sweeten the deal, so their best hope is that the Mavericks buy Klay out so he can join a win-now destination of his choice.
