Pirates Go Into All-Star Break With Impressive Sweep of Brewers
· Yahoo Sports
The All-Star Break is a perfect time for players to rest and recuperate before the final stretch of the regular season.
But for the Pittsburgh Pirates, it actually comes at an inconvenient time, given how well they’ve been playing, and that was made clear on Sunday afternoon after the team clinched a series sweep over the Milwaukee Brewers.

The Brewers have the second-best record in the National League at 59-37 heading into the All-Star break, and have been one of baseball’s best teams since Opening Day.
Pittsburgh outscored them 24-9 over the last three games, including a double-header sweep on Saturday and a 14-5 victory on Sunday.
Between Esmerlyn Valdez’s historic performances on Saturday, a 10-run fourth inning on Sunday, and solid starts from Brandon Ashcraft, Bubba Chandler, and Paul Skenes, this really was a complete team series victory.

“Happy going into the break. I think when you get the offense rolling like that and have a series like that, you know, necessarily don't want to shut it down and it's gonna, it'll be a good break and, you know, ready to come out on the other side,” said Pittsburgh’s skipper.
Even though Pittsburgh lost its star rookie, Konnor Griffin, who was just placed on the 60-day injured list, the Pirates are actually building momentum. They’re 7-3 in their last 10 games and have 50 wins before the All-Star break for the first time since 2015.
Even though the Pirates have made notable strides since last year, Kelly still believes his team has more to put together and is just very happy with how they have competed over the last few weeks.
If this series sweep over the Brewers is any indication of what the Pirates have in the works, it could be a fun second half of the season in Pittsburgh as the team is in the middle of the Wild Card race for the first time in a long time.
